This is a vintage original poster for the 1959 15-Mile National Championship Motorcycle Races at Pennsylvania’s historic Heidelberg Raceway which was located about 12 miles south of Pittsburgh on Route 50.  Heidelberg Raceway was originally designed for horse racing with the financial backing of Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney but when horse racing failed to get legal approval in Pennsylvania the track switched to motorsports.  The Heidelberg Raceway as in operation from 1948 until 1973 and today the land is home to a shopping center called the Raceway Plaza.

The 1959 15-Mile National Championship Motorcycle Race advertised on this poster was won by Motor Sports Hall of Fame inductee Dick Klamfoth of Groveport, Ohio on a BSA Motorcycle.  1959 marked Klamfoth second consecutive victory at Heidelberg Raceway having also won the same event in 1958.

The lower margin indicates this poster was printed by the Triangle Poster Company of Philadelphia.  This vintage original poster is folded as issued and shows moderate handling wear, a single pinhole in the margin on each upper corner and some toning from age. There is a small bit of separation at a couple of the fold line intersections and a small hole with a small bit staining just above the letters “R” and “A” in RACES at the top of the poster.  This poster will ship folded as issued.  Overall  condition is very good for this vintage original.
