This is a vintage original poster for the 1966 American drama film Chappaqua. This film was written and directed by Conrad Rooks and is a semi-autobiographical exploration of the perils of drug addiction, the agony of withdrawal, and the author's journey to Europe for treatment. The film featured cameo appearances by William S. Burroughs, Swami Satchidananda, Allen Ginsberg, Moondog, Ornette Coleman, The Fugs, and Ravi Shankar. The film debuted at the 27th Venice International Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize, and was subsequently released by the Regional Film Distributors unit of Universal Pictures, in New York City on November 5, 1967. The film endures today as a cult classic.
This poster is a vintage original but was not used from the theatrical release of the film but rather sold as merchandise in headshops and retailers of that type. The lower margin on the right side is printed with a 1967 copyright by Personality Posters, Inc. of New York City. This poster is free of tape or pinholes. The poster was folded slightly irregularly and shows moderate handling wear. Overall condition is very good.
