This vintage original silkscreen window card style political poster was issued in Cuba in 1978 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and the toppling of the Fulgencio Batista regime.  This poster is printed one side only on lightweight cardboard and features a stylized image of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara with Spanish language text that translates to 20th Anniversary: to continue advancing along the victorious path of socialism.  Additional text at the bottom indicates the food situation will improve in Cuba.  The name “Franz” is printed on the right side of the poster presumably indicating the artist.  The left edge is printed “Divulgacion Minal 78” which we take to indicate a 1978 print date.   This same image of Castro and Che Guevara together appeared on postage stamps in Laos and Nicaragua, both nations friendly to the Castro regime.  

This original poster shows wear including some contact surface loss of paper along the upper and lower margins which barely encroaches into and doesn’t really affect the image area.  There are pinholes on the upper corners and two short tears on the top edge which extend down about an inch in the image area with minimal paper loss.  The poster shows some scuffing and general wear and there is a light trace of staining visible in the margin on the upper right corner and some staining is visible in the white star above Castro’s head.   In spite of the condition issues the poster still displays well and some may say offers a rugged and attractive patina proclaiming originality.
