This is a rare vintage original poster for the 1983 Iraqi movie Clash of Loyalties. This poster was printed in the UK and is a similar format to the British Quad style poster with the lower margin printed “Designed and Produced by Josephani Graphics – England Telex 8952496”. The poster has primarily Arabic text and we believe was intended for use in Iraq as the film was never released theatrically in the UK or USA. The film was intended as a propaganda vehicle for the Saddam regime to influence western opinions of Iraq and focused on the formation of Iraq out of Mesopotamia in the aftermath of the First World War.
The film was financed by Saddam Hussein, filmed almost entirely in Iraq and starred Oliver Reed, Marc Sinden, Helen Ryan and other well established British actors. Filming began in 1980 and was delayed by the onset of the Iran-Iraq War with the film finally completed in 1983. Oliver Reed spent a great deal or time drinking heavily and carousing around Baghdad during filming of the movie. This vintage original poster is almost impossible to find and has moderate handling wear including bumping along the top edge. Overall condition is very good.
