This vintage original poster was created by the artist Fred G. Cooper and issued by the United States Fuel Administration during WWI to encourage Americans to buy their coal early. The poster has text that reads:
Order Your Coal NOW – Get it out of Uncle Sam’s way, he needs the railroads for the war
Fred G. Cooper, whose initials are printed at the bottom of the poster, was a prolific illustrator who worked with notable clients including Westinghouse and the New York Edison power company among others. This poster has the United States Fuel Administration “Save That Shovelful” logo at the bottom and the lower right hand corner indicates this poster was printed by The United States Printing & Litho. Company of New York.
This vintage original poster was folded and shows moderate handling wear and a bit of light scattered foxing places as well as a small nick to the tip of the upper left hand corner. Overall condition is very good.
