This vintage original WWI poster was issued to help promote the sale of War Savings Stamps. An Uncle Sam figure dominates the image with one arm around a US Army soldier and the other around an American civilian. Text reminds Americans on the home front to honor their pledge of support through the purchase of War Savings Stamps.
War Savings Stamps could be purchased with small amounts of spare change and then saved up and exchanged for actual war bonds which greatly increased the audience of prospective war bond investors. We haven’t identified the artist but the initials A.A.P. appear in the image.
This poster is an original antique from the WWI era. The poster has a short tear of about an inch without paper loss in the margin on the top edge and otherwise looks almost unused with no tape or pinholes and only moderate handling wear including bumped edges most apparent along the right edge of the poster. Overall condition is very good.
