This vintage original c.1930 travel poster advertises the Lido on Lake Lugano in southern Switzerland near the Italian border.  This beautiful glacial lake is located between Lake Como and Lake Maggiori and was first cited in the writings of Gregory of Tours in 590 AD as Ceresio, a name derived from the Latin word for cherry due to the abundance of cherry trees on the shores of the lake at the time.   

The lower margin of the poster indicates the printer as “A. Trab & Cie., Aarau – Lugano”.   

This vintage original poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen.   The poster had a few small tears on the edges and a longer tear of a few inches that extended into the image area at the bottom edge of the poster.   Small loses of paper on the borders not affecting the image area were expertly restored during the linen backing process.  Interested buyers are welcome to contact us for photos of the poster prior to linen backing.   The poster displays beautifully and overall condition is very good.
