This is a vintage original poster was created by the prolific illustrator Frederick Sands Brunner and issued by the Red Cross during WWII. This poster was intended to promote the home nursing courses offered by the Red Cross to help alleviate the shortage of nurses created by the war. Text across the bottom of the poster, Learn To Guard The Home Front, suggests that participation in these home nursing courses was a way to contribute to the overall war effort and keep the home front safe. Brunner had a long association as an illustrator for the Ladies Home Journal and later created advertising artwork for Coca-Cola, Camel Cigarettes and other major clients.

The bottom of the poster is overprinted with the Philadelphia headquarters address of the American Red Cross at 511 North Broad Street, an address that organization occupied until December 1944.

This vintage original poster is in very good condition and looks pretty well unused with no tape or pinholes and just light handling wear and modest toning from age. The poster has a quarter inch tear on the top edge and upper right side and a bit of light scattered foxing near the upper corners and top edge. The colors remain strong and overall condition is very good.
