This vintage original poster was issued by the American Humane Association, the national organization known today as the American Humane Society with chapters focusing on animal welfare throughout the United States. This poster isn’t dated but we believe this is the organization's official poster for 1947. This poster was created by the artist Edwin Magargee who was a highly regarded animal painter and illustrator who had a long association with the American Kennel Club. For this poster Magargee illustrates a charming pastoral scene of a mare with her foal accompanied by a collie under the title Be Kind To Animals.
The lower margin is printed with the address of the Connecticut Humane Society in Hartford and also shows the towns in Connecticut with humane society branches along with the slogan “Do A Kind Act Daily To Some Animal”. This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and looks pretty well unused with just some light handling. The poster has a faint vertical crease on the right side and was folded just slightly off center at one point. The colors are sharp and overall condition is very good.
