This is a vintage original c.1950s brochure on Don the Beachcomber restaurants.  This brochure looks like a menu and is a four page format printed on lightweight cardstock measuring about 12” x 10” per page.  The inside pages features photos and information on Don The Beachcomber restaurants rather than the actual menu of food and drink items.   The brochure makes reference to three Don The Beachcomber locations – Hollywood, Chicago and the Palm Springs location that opened in 1953.   The front cover features an elaborate South Seas Polynesian themed pictorial map of the South Pacific and the back cover features a similarly elaborate pictorial map of the Caribbean Sea.

Donn Beach founded the first Don The Beachcomber restaurant in Hollywood, California in the 1930s and after serving in WWII grew the business into a chain with dozens of locations across the United States.  Beach is widely recognized as the “Father of Tiki Bar culture” in America.  His restaurants promoted exotic and potent South Seas themed drinks such as the Sumatra Kula and Zombie cocktails.  There were many imitators that followed as Tiki themed bars opened across the United States in the years following WWII but Don The Beachcomber was the original.

This vintage original brochure is fully complete and in excellent condition with just light handling wear.  Email any questions.  Thanks for looking.
