This vintage original poster was issued by the British Overseas Airways Corporation or BOAC as they were known around the time that airline began offering transatlantic service via the Bristol Britannia airliner. The poster is not dated but the Bristol Britannia entered service in the mid 1950s. The first BOAC transatlantic passenger flight between London and New York using that aircraft occurred in December 1957 with additional North American cities added shortly thereafter. This poster features a profile view of Bristol Britannia airliner with text that reads:
FLY BOAC Britannia Jet-Prop Airliner ACROSS THE ATLANTIC Serving London, New York, Montreal, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco – The fastest, smoothest, most spacious jet-prop airliner in the world – British Overseas Airways Corporation
This vintage original unrestored poster shows moderate handling wear including some bumping to the edges and some toning from age. There is very slight surface loss of paper on the corners from what was probably tape removal at one time. There is a small white spot near the lower right corner and another small abrasion spot in the word “most” toward the bottom of the poster. The poster still displays nicely as is and could be linen backed with some basic touchup if you wanted to get it looking near perfect.
