This is a vintage original poster promoting Seattle, Washington as a travel destination was issued by the Great Northern Railway in the 1960s. This poster features a nighttime sweeping panoramic view of the Space Needle and downtown Seattle with parts of Lake Washington, Mercer Island and other landmarks visible including a distant Mount Rainer. The Great Northern Railway logo appears in the lower left corner of the poster and text printed in pleasing Mid-Century font reads:
Queen City of the Pacific Northwest! SEATTLE – Best way to get there? go great northern
This poster isn’t dated but construction of the Space Needle was completed in time for Seattle’s Century 21 Exposition World’s Fair which opened in April 1962. We would date this poster to the early mid 1960s, perhaps c.1963 or 1964. This vintage original poster is free or tape or pinholes and shows light handling wear and a bit of buckling to the paper on lower corners which could be easily corrected with basic linen backing. Overall condition is very good.
