This is a vintage original hand painted Vietnam War era North Vietnamese/Viet Cong poster.   This poster features then image of a woman fighter on motorbike with an AK-47 slung over her shoulder.  The woman wears a Viet Cong or National Liberation Front of South Vietnam “Black Pajamas” uniform with Viet Cong flag armband.  Viet Cong flags form the background and text across the bottom of the poster translates as “Quang Nam and Da Nang, brave and resolute, led the way in defeating the Americans.”  Text in the upper right corner of the poster translates roughly to “Today is a Once in a Century Opportunity”.   The reference to Quang Nam Province and Da Nang would most likely be a reference to the 1968 Tet Offensive, one of the major campaigns of the conflict that saw major combat in that area.   

This vintage original poster is hand painted on a brownish rice paper giving it a striking almost folk art quality. The poster has a lateral crease across the center and few small scuffs and abrasions and a small pinhole sized hole just above the woman’s face.  The back of the poster shows some light soiling and a trace of staining around the edges in places that doesn’t affect the front side artwork.  Overall condition is very good for this Vietnam War era vintage original.
