This vintage original poster was issued by the United Farm Worker’s and AFL-CIO in the early to mid 1970s in support of the national boycott of grapes, lettuce and Gallo wine organized by the UFW. The boycott of grapes began in 1965 when predominately Filipino farm workers in Delano, California voted for a strike through the National Farm Workers Association labor organization. Under the leadership of Cesar Chavez the National Farm Workers Association would merge with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee to form the United Farm Workers labor union which would carry on boycotting grapes until 1978. Chavez saw the UFW as more than a labor union and economic justice for farm workers as part of the larger Civil Rights struggle of the era.
This vintage original poster has pinholes on the corners, a small tear of about an inch at the bottom edge, slight creasing in the image area and moderate handling wear. There is a small bit of staining to the tip of the lower right hand corner. Overall condition is otherwise very good.
