This vintage original WWII poster honors Waterloo, Iowa born brothers Joseph Eugene Sullivan, Francis Henry Sullivan, Albert Leo Sullivan, Madison Abel Sullivan, and George Thomas Sullivan who served together in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Juneau. The Sullivan Brothers died together tragically on November 13, 1942 when a Japanese submarine torpedoed their ship during the naval battle at Guadalcanal. The Sullivan Brothers became American heroes inspiring a Hollywood movie and countless donations and campaigns supporting the war effort. The lower margin indicates this is Office of War Information Poster No. 42.
This poster is a vintage original in the full one sheet size folded as issued and in very good condition with only light handling wear. It doesn't appear this poster was ever hung up or used.
