This vintage original and rare poster is one of the earlier posters issued by Italy’s Alitalia airline.  This poster features the image of a sidewalk café table with a bottle of wine, a bowl of fruit and a bouquet of flowers under a colorful umbrella all rendered in a pleasing Mid-Century Modern style.  The artist’s name, of whom we know little, is signed in print in the upper righthand corner of the image as Lemoine. An aircraft appears in the image that looks similar in profile to the Douglas DC-4 which entered service with Alitalia in 1950, only a couple years after the airline was founded.   The lower left corner indicates the printer as N. Monera Milano – Roma and the lower right edge is printed Studio Mario de Tuddo.

This vintage original poster has been professionally backed to linen with some expert repair to short tears and abrasions on the edges and mitigation to light creases in the image area. The colors retain their original boldness and the poster displays beautifully.   Overall condition is very good.  We find no auction history for this rare poster.
