This antique original poster was created by the artist Harry Everest Townsend and issued by the United States Food Administration during WWI. The poster features a dire image of French civilians turned refugees against a backdrop of bombed out buildings with text that reads They cannot fight & raise food at the same time - Denying ourselves a little means Life to them - WE MUST FEED THEM.
This poster is fully complete with some toning from age and moderate handling wear including a few short tears without paper loss in the margin on the left edge. The poster has a bit of light scattered foxing toward the bottom and the edges are slightly bumped in places. The poster has no tape or pinholes and overall condition is very good for this antique original
