This vintage original WWI poster was issued in support of the Second Liberty Loan drive which ran from October 1 to November 15, 1917. This poster is unique in that it was designed to appeal directly to women and mothers in particular.  The poster features a motherly figure with arms outstretched against a patriotic red, white and blue banner behind which a hellish war scene unfolds featuring a sinking ship, dead soldiers, soldiers charging forward and exploding artillery shells.  Text framing the image reads:   

WOMEN! Help America’s Sons Win The War – Buy U.S. Government Bonds 2nd Liberty Loan of 1917 

This antique original poster is folded as issued. A few pieces of old cello tape were expertly removed from the verso of the poster and few small pieces of acid free paper archival tissue then applied to stabilize a short tear of about two inches without paper loss at the top edge and small areas of separation on fold lines in a couple spots.   The poster has a small puncture and shorty tear on the lower right corner.  The colors are vibrant and the poster displays beautifully.  Overall condition is very good.
