This is a vintage original and rare movie herald for the groundbreaking 1925 silent fantasy giant monster adventure film The Lost World.   This film was produced and distributed by First National Pictures, directed by Harry O. Hoyt, written by Marion Fairfax and adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle's 1912 novel of the same name.  This film starred Wallace Beery, Bessie Love, Lewis Stone and Lloyd Hughes and featured pioneering stop motion special effects by Willis "Obie" O'Brien who would later achieve even greater recognition for his work on the 1933 film King Kong. 

The Lost World was the first feature-length film made using model animation as the primary special effect. Willis combined stop motion animation dinosaurs with live-action footage of human beings thus combining live-action and stop-motion footage in the same frame for the first time.

Heralds were small brochures used by movie promoters to advertise coming attractions. This herald is a small pamphlet that folds open to about 10.25” x 7” and features a montage of battling dinosaurs and scenes from the film along with descriptive text.   This herald is folded as issued and has an ink handstamp from the Ricard Theater on the back cover panel. The herald shows light handling wear and modest toning from age.  The herald has about a half inch of separation at the edges on both ends of the center fold line and is clean and in very good condition overall.
