This vintage original WWII poster was issued in 1943 to promote the sale of war bonds and depicts a single soldier staring straight ahead with the solemn statement “Remember me? I was at Bataan.” The Battle of Bataan was the primary battle in the Japanese invasion of The Philippines following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. American and Philippine forces under General Douglas MacArthur engaged in a fighting retreat lasting three months which culminated in the surrender of more than 75,000 allied soldiers and the event that became known as The Bataan Death March. It was a dark day in American military history but General MacArthur’s promise “I Shall Return” rallied the nation. This poster really captures the national feeling at that pivotal moment of the Second World War.

This poster is the full one sheet size showing light handling wear and some modest toning from age. The poster has a couple small pinholes near the upper right and upper left hand corners. Overall condition is very good. This poster ships folded.
