This vintage original Italian travel poster advertising the city of Bologna and the Anno Santo or Holy Year in the Catholic faith was created by Armando Baldinelli and issued by ENIT, the official Italian tourism authority, shortly after the end of WWII. For this poster, Baldinelli uses an image of the Arca di San Domenico (Ark of Saint Dominic), a monument containing the remains of Saint Dominic located in the Basilica of San Domenico in Bologna, Italy. The words “Anno Santo” and “Holy Year” appear in the upper left corner and Baldinelli’s name is signed in print in the upper right corner. The left margin is printed GRAFICHE GIGLI – ESENTE DA BOLLO D.L. 8-11-47 N.1417 – AUTORIZZ QUESTURA DI ROMA – PRINTED IN ITALY BY ENIT – A CURA DELL E.P.T. DI BOLOGNA.
This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and shows moderate handling wear including some bumping to the edges and a few short tears on the edges without paper loss. One tear of about an inch and half on the upper left edge extends slightly into the image area. This poster was folded at one time and may have been issued folded. This poster looks great as is or could look almost like new with basic linen backing (which we can arrange for an additional cost). Overall condition is very good.
