This vintage original window card style poster promoting the annual International Live Stock Exposition and Horse Show at the Union Stock Yards in Chicago was created by the artist Norman Tolson.  This poster was issued for the 1947 exposition but we find essentially the same artwork with sometimes varying text was used for similar posters promoting the event from the 1930s up well into the 1950s.  The bottom of the window card is printed “Travel By Rail” and the back of the window card has a label affixed from the Advertising Department of the Burlington Route railroad.   Other examples we’ve seen have snipes or labels for other railroads serving Chicago so it seems likely the poster was issued by exposition organizers and then distributed to railroads and organizations providing transportation and other services in support of the event.

This is a window card style poster printed one side only on cardboard.   This window card shows moderate handling wear including some bumps and small dings on the edges in places most evident along the bottom edge of the poster.  The image area is largely unaffected and the original vibrancy of the colors is nicely retained.  Overall condition is very good for this vintage original.
