This is a vintage original and rare three sheet movie poster for the Best Picture Academy Award winning 20th Century Fox American drama film All About Eve. This film was directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, produced by Darryl F. Zanuck and starred Bette Davis and Anne Baxter with a supporting cast that included George Sanders, Celeste Holm, Thelma Ritter and Marilyn Monroe in one of her earliest roles, among others. This film was universally acclaimed by critics at the time and went on to receive a record 14 nominations at the 23rd Academy Awards, winning six awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
This poster for the film was designed by prolific and influential Swiss graphic designer Erik Nitsche who also designed the “Atoms for Peace” series and other posters for General Dynamics. Nitsche also designed the poster for the Joseph Mankiewicz directed film noir No Way Out which premiered a couple months before All About Eve in 1950.
This vintage original poster from the film’s 1950 first American release in the 3-sheet format is next to impossible to find. This poster was printed on two sheets that were joined to create the finished poster. The poster has been professionally backed to linen with some minor touchup as needed. Prior to linen backing the poster showed light to moderate handling including a few scuffs, slight creases and slight wear and small amounts of separation on the fold lines in places all of which were expertly corrected during the linen backing process.
