This lively pictorial map poster of Oahu, Hawaii’s third largest geographically and most populated island, was created for United Airlines by the Canadian artist Kim Forrest and has a 1978 copyright by Archar (Western) Inc. of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Close examination reveals meticulous detail of the island as it existed in the 1970s all rendered in a pleasing and whimsical way that aptly celebrates this wonderful destination. Kim Forrest, whose name is signed in print in the lower right corner, created pictorial maps for United Airlines of other Hawaiian Islands and one that shows all of the Hawaiian Islands archipelago in a single map.  The Canadian-American publishing firm Archar had a specialty in pictorial maps and produced a number of them for different cities and destinations in the 1970s.  

This vintage original pictorial map poster looks pretty well unused with no tape or pinholes and only light handling wear including slight bumping to the edges and light creasing to the two lower corner tips.  A small less than one inch piece of acid free document repair tissue was applied on verso to flatten the crease to the lower right corner tip.  The original colors are strong retained and overall condition is very good for this vintage original.
