This vintage original poster was issued during the First World War to help promote membership in the American Red Cross. A annual membership could be purchased for $2.00 and that included a subscription to the Red Cross Magazine and the poster reminds that no field service was required of members.
This poster features an image of a Red Cross nurse assisting a wounded solider with one arm and a mother with children with the other arm to help illustrate the wide range of people helped by The Red Cross. By the end of WWI more than 30 million Americans held memberships in the Red Cross and another 8 million served as volunteers.
This poster is an unrestored vintage original issued during WWI. The poster shows moderate handling wear and was folded slightly irregularly. The poster has a few short tears on the edges and couple pieces of old tape were removed from the back of the poster and replaced with a couple small pieces of acid free paper archival tissue which doesn’t show on the front side. Overall condition is very good.
