This vintage original poster was issued during WWII to help recruit women to serve as SPARS in the United States Coast Guard Women's Reserve. SPAR was an acronym derived from the Coast Guard motto "Semper Paratus - Always Ready". The artist, J. Valentine, renders an image of a woman saluting proudly in a SPAR uniform against a background of Coast Guard ships at sea and a 19th century pioneer woman with a Conestoga wagon somewhere on the Great Plains of the American West. Text on the poster reads:

This vintage original poster was never hung or used and has no tape or pinholes. The poster shows light handling wear including a slight bumping to the edges in places. The colors retain their original richness and overall condition is very good.
