This vintage original c.1950 Austrian travel poster was created by the artist Hubert Lecnher (1903-1990). For this poster Lechner renders a colorful summer day image of the Alpenhotel Kaiser Franz Joseph Haus, the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse (Alpine High Road) and Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. Lechner’s name appears in print in the upper right corner of the image and just below the image the printer is identified as Offsetdruck Sochor Zellamsee. Also printed just below the image is Erzeugnisse F. Reiter, Klagenfurt-Mallnitz.
This vintage original poster has been professionally backed to linen with expert repair to a few short tears on the edges including repair to a tear of about two inches without paper loss on the top center. The poster shows two lateral creases near the top and another crease to the lower right corner which were mitigated during the linen backing process. The poster also showed some short tears and roughness along the lower right edge which was repaired during the linen backing process. The poster retains the original color and displays nicely.
