This is one of several delightful Mid-Century posters done by Stan Galli for United Air Lines in the 1950s and early 1960s. This particular poster probably had special meaning for the artist as San Francisco was Galli’s hometown and he lived most of this life in the City by the Bay. For this poster Galli render’s an image of one of San Francisco's iconic cable cars trundling along on the California Street line with lettering on the end of the car reads "Van Ness Ave., California & Market Streets". Galli’s name appears signed in the lower right hand corner of the image.
This poster isn’t dated but was produced around 1960 and has been professionally linen backed. A short tear of about a half inch at the top edge and small pinhole nicks off the corner tips have been expertly repaired. The colors are strong and the poster displays beautifully. Overall condition is very good.
