This is an original and rare Japanese broadside featuring an image from 1888 Republican National Convention in Chicago where President Benjamin Harrison was nominated.  Also featured in the image area are inset portraits of Benjamin Harrison and his wife, First Lady Caroline Harrison with Japanese language text printed above and below the image.   This broadside is printed one side only, looks to have been folded originally and was possibly issued in a Japanese periodical.  We don’t find any other examples and don’t have much additional information but this is an original antique issued at the time of Harrison’s nomination in 1888.

This antique original broadside has some chips and nicks and small areas of paper loss on the margins not affecting the image area.   Several pieces of older paper library tape have been applied around the edges on verso and there is a bit of light foxing and toning from age along with the original folds, some creasing in the image area and moderate handling wear.   Overall condition is good for this rare piece.
