This original and rare antique postcard supports women’s suffrage in Oklahoma. The lower margin of the card has a union made emblem and indicates this postcard was printed by the Peerless Press of Oklahoma City. The postcard features an image of a woman casting her vote bracketed by quotes on equality by Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson with text above and below that reads:
OKLAHOMA WOMEN WANT VOTES FOR WOMEN – LET THE PEOPLE RULE WOMEN ARE PEOPLE
This postcard has a 1910 postmark from Enid, Oklahoma and brief message from sender written on the back. It would be another decade before Oklahoma would ratify the 19th Amendment in 1920 and women would allowed to vote. This antique original postcard shows moderate handling wear and a bit of toning, slight dust staining and light scattered foxing in places. The name “Mrs. Pratt” is written neatly in the lower margin on the front of the card. Overall condition is very good.
