This is an original and scare issue of American Women’s Suffrage movement periodical The Suffragist.  This magazine was “the Weekly Organ of the Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage”.  This is the August 21, 1915 issue with a front cover issuing a call to the Women Voters’ Convention being held in conjunction with the 1915 Panama-Panama International Exposition World’s Fair in San Francisco.

The Suffragist was published from late 1913 through early 1921.  The Magazine was founded by Alice Paul and then later edited by Rheta Childe Door.  Contributors to this issue include Mary Ritter Beard and Florence Kelley among others and Nina E. Allender is listed as Art Editor although the only artwork that appears is on the front cover. This issue includes reports and articles on women’s suffrage related activities around the country, a list of new subscribers and those that have donated to the cause, a few advertisements and more.

This original antique magazine is fully complete with eight pages and looks to have been removed from a bound volume with stitching holes running along the spine edge.   The magazine shows some toning from age and the original mailing folds.  The front cover is mostly separated from the rest of the magazine along the spine but could be reattached easily.   The lower left corner of the front cover shows a library number written by hand.  There are no other library markings.  The word “Strawboards” is also hand stamped on the lower left corner of the front cover.  Overall condition is very good.
