This is an original antique Mexican Revolution era broadside published by Blas Vanegas Arroyo in 1921 and illustrated with an engraving created by prolific and highly influential Mexican artist and printmaker Jose Guadalupe Posada. This broadside features sensational headlines relating to the Chief of Police of Morelia pledging to kill Catholics, Bolshevik deputies serving on the grand jury, the town of Tecolote in danger of being blown up by dynamite bombs and police shooting car thieves. The broadside features descriptive text about these events covering the bottom half and is illustrated with an engraving by Posada. The date “5-20-21” is printed at the top of the masthead on the right side.
This antique original Mexican broadside is printed one side only and shows some toning from age and moderate handling wear including a couple short tears, nicks and slight creasing on the edges in spots. There is a small hole on the center fold line near the left side. Overall condition is otherwise very good.
