This is a vintage original poster issued in support to Black Panther leader Bobby Seale during his 1970 murder trial in New Haven, Connecticut. This poster features an image of Seale under the title ON STRIKE Here And Now For Bobby Seale. Text at the bottom reads “We must save Bobby Seale because we must save the Black Panther Party because we must save the revolutionary spirit in America”.
This poster was made for the student strike that occurred at Yale University beginning May 1, 1970 as both a protest of the Vietnam War and as a rally in support of the Black Panther trials being held near the Yale campus in New Haven. Seale had been charged with ordering George Sams, Jr. to kill Alex Rackley, a Black Panther who was alleged to have been a police informant. Sams Jr. was convicted of the killing of Rackley but the jury was hung on the case against Seale and the charges against him were ultimately dropped.
This vintage original poster shows light handling wear, modest toning from age and a single tack hole at the top center. The poster is free of any tape, stains or writing. Overall condition is very good.
