This vintage original poster promoting Naval Disarmament was issued by the National Council for the Prevention of War (NCPW) of Washington, D.C. This is a text only poster that pleads for naval disarmament on the basis of the honor and safety of the American people. This poster quotes President Herbert Hoover’s 1929 Armistice Day speech:
“We will reduce our naval strength in proportion to any other. Having said that, it only remains for the others to say how low they will go. IT CANNOT BE TOO LOW FOR US. – Armistice Day, 1929”
The lower margin indicates this poster was issued by the National Council for the Prevention of War and lists the cities where NCPW had offices including Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Portland, Louisville and Springfield, Massachusetts. This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and folded as issued with only slight handling wear and modest toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
