This is a vintage original and rare Iraqi political poster from the Iran-Iraq War and Saddam Hussein era. We don’t have much of information about this poster but it was obtained by an American working in Iraq during the early 1980s Iran-Iraq War period. The poster celebrates the government of Iraq nationalizing the country’s oil industry. The image depicts what looks like some type of oil refinery and the date “June 1st” printed within the image which is a reference to the June 1, 1972 date for nationalization of the Iraqi oil industry under then president Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr and vice-president Saddam Hussein. The date 1980 and a document bearing the facsimile signature of Saddam Hussein appear in the image as well.
This vintage original poster has a couple short tears on the bottom edge without any paper loss. The poster is otherwise in very good condition with moderate handling wear including slight bumped edges and slight creasing in the image area. Overall condition is very good for this rare vintage original.
