This Italian travel poster promoting the city of Venice was issued in 1951 and designed by Cassandre, pseudonym of Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron, one of the most notable poster artists of the 20th century. Cassandre’s unmistakable style depicts the serene surface of a canal reflecting a nimble gondolier gliding past. The lower margin is printed Calcografia & Cartevalori – Via. A. Sciesa, 4 - Milano and Cassandre's name is signed in the image along with the year '51.
This poster has been professionally backed to linen and a short tear of a couple inches at the top edge expertly repaired with other minor touchup as needed. This vintage original poster displays beautifully.
