This antique original and rare WWI era poster was created to raise funds for the support of refugees in Armenia, Greece, Syria and Persia. This poster features the affecting image of a young orphaned boy war refugee shoeless and wrapped in a blanket with text that reads Give the boy a chance – 249,999 other homeless orphans like him – NEAR EAST RELIEF 1 Madison Avenue New York City.

This poster is not dated but the American Committee for Relief in The Near East was founded in 1915 as the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief briefly operated under the name American Committee For Relief In The Near East in 1918 and 1919. We would date this poster c.1918. This organization is still operating today as the Near East Foundation with a greatly increased scope of operations beyond the original mission of helping refugees from Armenia, Greece, Syria and Persia. The lower margin is printed “Alco-Gravure, Inc. New York Baltimore.”

This antique original poster has no tape or pinholes and shows moderate handling wear including a few small nicks and some bumping along the edges mostly noticeable along the upper right edge. This poster is folded as issued and in very good condition overall.
