This vintage original and rare WWII poster was created by the artist “Abugov” and issued by the National Film Board of Canada during WWII. For this poster the artist renders an image showing different types of headwear used in the various branches of the Canadian military along with civilian headwear including hats for a farmer, railroad worker and woman factory worker. Text on the poster, If The Cap Fights Wear It! Canada Needs You Somewhere On The War Front, suggests that those working for the war effort on the home front where just as essential to the ultimate victory as those on active service.

This poster is sometimes attributed to the Russian artist Semion Abugov who was active during the WWII era in Russia but unlikely the same “Abugov” that created this Canadian poster.

This is a rare poster which is almost impossible to find. We trace only a single example at auction. This poster is folded as issued and looks unused with no tape or pinholes and only slight handling wear. The colors are robust and overall condition is excellent.
