This is a vintage original WWII U.S. Navy Recognition Test poster created by artist and graphic designer Irving Miller. This poster is one in a series of 18 created by Miller for the US Navy all of which featured photomontage and other striking graphic design elements associated with 20th century Modernism. These posters featured silhouettes of similar looking aircraft together with images of soldiers, ships, military vehicles and equipment along with a single cryptic clue as to the identity of the aircraft. A small flap was attached to each poster which could be lifted to reveal the identities of the aircraft on the poster. The poster offered here is Recognition Test Number 18 and features the C-60 Lodestar Transport, C-47 Skytrain and C-53 Skytrooper Transport-Gilder Tug and the C-46 Commando Transport-Glider Tug.
This vintage original and rare WWII Recognition Test poster is in very good condition overall with the original answer flap still attached. The answer flap was attached with staples which are a trifle rusted and a couple small rust spots appear on the poster next to the answer flap . Overall condition is very good.
