This is a group of seven different vintage original WWII U.S. Navy Recognition Test posters created by artist and graphic designer Irving Miller. These posters feature photomontage and other graphic design elements associated with 20th century Modernism to create a striking group. Each poster features silhouettes of similar looking aircraft together with images of soldiers, ships, military vehicles and equipment along with a single cryptic clue as to the identity of the aircraft. A small flap is attached to each poster which can be lifted to reveal the identities of the aircraft on the poster. This group includes Recognition Test Number 18, 20, 21, 23, 33, 39 and 42.  Recognition Test Poster Number 18 shows an American aircraft and is from the first series of these posters issued in 1945.   The other posters all show Japanese aircraft and from the series issued in 1943.  All are vintage originals issued by the Training Division of the U.S. Navy Bureau of Naval Personnel during WWII.

These vintage original and rare WWII Recognition Test posters are in very good condition overall with all having the original answer flaps still attached. The posters show light handling wear and the Recognition est Number 18 has staples that are a trifle rusted and two small marks from a rusted staple. Overall condition is very good.
