This delightful poster was issued by the Norddeutscher Lloyd (North German Lloyd) shipping company in the mid 1950s to promote transatlantic travel on their MS Berlin ocean liner. The MS Berlin was built in 1924 and christened as the MS Gripsholm by the Swedish American Line. In 1954 she was sold to the North German Lloyd Company and renamed MS Berlin where she remained in service until 1966. This poster by W. Hoppe shows a birds eye view of the ship and illustrates the route from Bremerhaven to Halifax to New York.
This poster has been professionally backed to linen and retains bright colors. A couple tears have been expertly repaired and light creases mitigated. The poster displays beautifully and is in very good condition overall. Contact us for more information as needed.
