This vintage original travel poster for the Soviet Union is one of several created by Russian graphic designers Nicolai Zhukov and Sergie Sakharov for Intourist, the official government tourism authority of the fallen transcontinental socialist state.  Zhukov and Sakharov created posters for Intourist both individually and in collaboration with each other as was the case with this rare poster paying homage to the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Soviet Union.   This poster’s title, USSR Country of 189 Peoples, appears in both English and German language text.   The lower right margin indicates “Printed in Soviet Union Vneshtorgisdat, Moscow” and both artists names appear in print in the image along with the “34” for the year.  

This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed with some expert touchup as needed including repair to a tear of a few inches without paper loss on the top edge and the removal of a couple of small pieces of desiccated tape off the back of the poster. A few small abrasions and a small area of shallow loss to the white border on the upper left side were skillfully corrected during the linen backing process.  Interested buyers are welcome to request photos of the poster prior to the linen backing.   Overall condition is very good.
