This vintage original Italian travel poster is one of two Cassandre created for ENIT, the official Italina state tourism authority, while living in Italy during the summer of 1935.  This poster highlights sports and recreational activities available to tourists in Italy including golf, tennis, skiing, boating and alpine climbing while the other companion poster highlighted the arts and cultural attractions.  This poster was issued in a few variants including English, French, German and Italian language versions as well as versions with and without the “The Ideal Land For All Sports” text seen here printed at the bottom.  In this English language version Cassandre’s name is signed in print in the upper right corner of the image area while the Italian versions feature only his monogram due to the prohibition of French artists working for the Italian government during the Mussolini era.  

This poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen with some expert touchup as needed including repair to a couple short tears and on the edges and small bit of replaced loss to the margin not affecting the image area on the upper corner tips.  Interested buyers can contact us for photos of the poster prior to linen backing.  The original colors are retained and the poster displays beautifully.  Overall condition is very good.
