This vintage original travel poster was created by the artist Filippo Romoli and issued by ENIT, the official Italian government tourism authority, and the provincial tourism authority to promote the 1947 Sacra Di Mare or Festival of the Sea in the Romagna Riviera region on the Adriatic coast of Northern Italy. Romagna is the coastal section of the Emilia-Romagna administrative region of which Bologna is the principal city.
For this poster Romoli renders an inviting and colorful image highlighting many of the attractions of this summerlong Festival of the Sea including a brilliant summer sun, flowers, a boat and even a Roman lyre paying homage to the traditional Italian musical entertainments associated with the festival. The lower margin indicates this poster was printed in 1947 and indicates the printer as “SAIGA giá Barabino & Graeve – Genova”. Romoli’s signature appears in print on the lower right side of the image area.
This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed and a few short tears and a small notch off the lower margin not affecting the image area have been expertly repaired. The colors remain sharp, the poster displays beautifully and overall condition is very good.
