This vintage original Italian travel poster was created by the artist Massimo Quaglino (1899-1982) and issued to promote the 1949 Carnevale di Torino or Turin Carnival. Quaglino is most remembered today as a landscape and figure painter and illustrator for the Fiat automobile company and this is the only example of a travel poster we find by the artist. Quaglino’s initials are signed in print in the lower right corner and the lower margin indicates this poster was printed by Roggero & Tortia of Torino in 1949. The logo of ENIT, the official Italian government tourism authority, appears in the lower left of the image area.
This poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen with minor expert touchup as needed including repair to a short one inch tear on the bottom edge and left edge. Overall condition is very good for this vintage original.
