This rare poster was created by California artist Earl Newman and issued in San Diego around the time that the American Folk Music Revival was peaking in the early to mid 1960s. This is a silkscreen poster that features a man holding a guitar and looking upward with the title BLUE GUITAR printed vertically on his right. The man on the poster looks a lot like folk music legend Pete Seeger who does appear on at least two other posters created by Newman. The lower right corner is printed Folk Music Center with the address 3233 Midway Drive San Diego, California. Newman’s name is signed in print on the lower left corner.
This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed with some minor touch up as needed including repair to a couple short tears on the edges and a few small scuffs in the image area. The original color is retained and the poster looks great. Serious buyers can contact us for a photo of the poster prior to the linen backing and touchup. Overall condition is very good.
