This vintage original poster was created by Nebraska born artist John Falter and issued by the U.S. Navy to help recruit women to serve as WAVES. The WAVES were the women’s branch of the United States Naval Reserve with the name an acronym for Women Accepted For Volunteer Emergency Service.

For this poster Falter renders an image of a woman in WAVES uniform assisting a naval aviator with text that reads She’s Helping To Win…how about you? and Serve in the Navy…Enlist in the WAVES. The date 20 December 1943 is printed in the lower margin. The artist’s name, John Falter USNR, is signed in print in the image area near the right edge.

This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed.  Prior to linen backing the poster showed moderate handling wear, a bit of foxing on the margins and some slight toning and bumping along the edges all of which have been addressed and mitigated during the linen backing process to give the poster an excellent overall appearance.  The colors remain vibrant and overall condition is very good.
