This vintage original and rare interwar period poster was issued by the United States Navy for recruiting purposes in 1936.  This poster explains US Navy traditions related to entertaining children shipboard during Christmas.   Recruiting posters issued between the World Wars such as this example tended to emphasis navy traditions and opportunities to travel and learn valuable job skills rather than the appeals to patriotism commonly seen during wartime.     The lower margin indicates a 1936 publication date.   The poster features a montage of photos showing Christmas activities on a US Navy ship bracketed by text that reads:

SEASON’S GREETINGS – It is a Naval custom wherever U.S. Naval ships may be at Christmas for all-hands to entertain children on shipboard.

This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and was never hung up or used. The poster has some roughness and small bit of paper loss along the left edge near the lower corner which doesn’t affect the image area and can be easily fixed with basic linen backing (which we can arrange for an added cost).   This poster is otherwise in very good condition with just light handling wear.
