This vintage original WWII poster was issued by the U.S. Navy in 1943 to help recruit women to serve in the WAVES. The WAVES were the women’s branch of the United States Naval Reserve with the name an acronym for Women Accepted For Volunteer Emergency Service.
This poster features the image of a confident woman in WAVES uniform crisply saluting with text that reads Enlist In The Waves – Release A Man To Fight At Sea. The date 1-15-43 is printed in the lower margin.
This vintage original poster was never hung or used and has no tape or pinholes. The poster shows light handling wear and a bit of creasing in the margin on the left corner. The poster also shows some bumping to the edges most evident along the right edge near the lower corner. The colors retain their original vibrancy and overall condition is very good.
