This vintage original propaganda poster of the Soviet Union was printed in Moscow and issued in 1986 to promote the Subbotnik, or day of unpaid volunteer work for community improvement. Subbotniks, a day when citizens of the Soviet Union would volunteer to clean streets and parks and generally improve the public spaces, originated in the early days following the 1919 Bolshevik revolution. The concept was reintroduced and reemphasized in 1971 on the 50th anniversary of the first mass Subbotnik. This colorful poster shows a group of Soviet workers enthusiastically striding forward in unison to get to work on the Subbotnik day under text that translates as:
On The Day Of Lenin’s Subbotnik Worl Efficiently And With Quality
This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and shows moderate handling wear including some bumping to the edges in places and light creasing in the image area. Overall condition is very good.
